Obama: ‘Iran Can Play a Constructive Role’ in Iraq

President Obama said the government of Iran can play a “constructive role” in stablizing Iraq, with a condition.

“Our view is that Iran can play a constructive role if it is sending the same message to the Iraqi government that we’re sending,” he said in a White House press briefing Thursday afternoon.

“And Iraq in chaos on their borders is probably not in their interest,” he added.

Obama also said that he will be sending 300 military advisors to Iraq but ruled out sending “combat troops” there.
