Pat Quinn announces $1.2 million for Broadview park

BROADVIEW, Ill. (AP) — Gov. Pat Quinn says the state is awarding $1.2 million in capital construction funding to help renovate a recreation center at a park in suburban Chicago.

The governor appeared at the park in Broadview on Saturday to announce the funding for the Broadview Park District to renovate the gymnasium and other areas at the Beverly Center. The center also will add play equipment, a climbing wall and an elevator. The total cost of the project is $1.6 million.

The money is portion of the $50 million available through the Parks and Recreational Facility Construction program.

Eligible projects include land acquisition, development, architectural planning, construction, rehabilitation and improvements.
