D.C. police arrested a junior varsity football coach at Bowie High School for allegedly arranging for a 15-year-old girl to have sex for money and engaging in sex with her for nearly a year, according to charging documents filed in D.C. Superior Court.
Arron Jahimal Burroughs, 35, who told police he also works as a Metrobus driver, was arrested at a Budget Inn on New York Avenue Monday and charged with first-degree child sex abuse.
Burroughs admitted to D.C. detectives that since September he had sex with the girl numerous times, according to police documents. The girl was 14 when they began having sex, reports said.
He also told police that he sells the drug and had 2 pounds of marijuana in his Range Rover, the document said.
The investigation started after a Takoma Park police officer observed the 15-year-old engaging in sex with a man in a vehicle parked in an empty lot at 7667 Maple Ave.
The girl told the officer she was a prostitute who worked in D.C. and Burroughs was her “pimp,” according to the document. Police had the girl call Burroughs and he agreed to pick her up at the Budget Inn, where he had made reservations earlier that day. Police arrested him when he arrived at the hotel.
The man in the vehicle who was caught having sex with the teenager has not been charged, according to Takoma Park police, and is still under investigation.
Burroughs could not be reached for comment.
