Report: Katie felt like she was in ‘Rosemary’s Baby’

Will and Kate spend some time with their exes, Josh welcomes a baby boy

By now everyone knows Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are divorcing. But what isn’t clear is why. So let the speculation begin!

According to Us Weekly, Katie filing for divorce and attempting to gain sole custody of her daughter, Suri, is a bold attempt to break free from a Scientology-influenced marriage.

Fun facts

» All of Tom’s three wives were 33 years old when they split from him

» Each wife was born 11 years after the previous one (Katie was born in 1978, Nicole Kidman in 1967 and Mimi Rogers in 1956)

» In their prenup, Katie is set to receive $3 million for every year they stay married (Tom is said to have made $200 million since they said “I do”)

» Katie has her own apartment in NYC that she got before filing for divorce, perhaps proving that she has been planning this for a while

“Every move she made and everything she did was controlled. … She felt like she was in ‘Rosemary’s Baby,’ ” a source told Us, referring to the 1968 horror film in which an aspiring actress bears a child for her husband’s satanic cult.

“This is about protecting her daughter,” the insider said. “She wants to be in charge of how Suri is being raised and didn’t want her to have an exclusively Scientology education.”

The New York Daily News also says Suri’s education was the main reason Katie is bolting after more than 5 years of marriage.

The paper claims Katie was afraid Tom was going to send their six-year-old to an intense Scientology organization known as Sea Org, where children go to learn the highest levels of the belief system. The organization has been compared by ex-Scientologists to a boot camp.

Perhaps Katie was right to fear for her daughter’s future. According to TMZ, Katie has been followed by church members since before she filed the divorce papers.

According to the gossip site, people who have photographed Katie multiple times say there have been several “mysterious” men and vehicles around Katie’s apartment and following her when she’s been out.

The “Dawson’s Creek” star has reportedly been laying low with Suri during the media frenzy surrounding the divorce. And according to the Us source, she’ll do anything to keep Suri safe and away from Scientology. “She felt she had to get out to save her daughter.”

Royally awkward

Even the most famous among us can’t completely escape their pasts.

Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, attended a wedding for a friend over the weekend, and both came face to face with not one, but two exes.

E! News reports that among the 300 guests who attended the nuptials, Wills ran into Olivia Hunt and Rose Farquhar, both women he dated before he was linked to Kate.

And as for the duchess, two of her exes, Willem Marx and Henry Ropner, were also on hand at the wedding.

“A lot of water has passed under the relationship bridge,” a source told the Sun. “But it was quite funny that Wills and Kate had to spend the afternoon with four old flames at the same time. It was like a scene from ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral.’ ”

A son for Josh

Josh Lucas and his new wife, Jessica, welcomed their first child over the weekend.

According to People magazine, Noah Rev Maurer was born Friday, June 29, in New York City, weighing in at 9 lbs., 4 oz.

Noah’s parent’s wed quietly in New York City in March, at the same time confirming that they were expecting a baby during the summer.
