Three U.S. soldiers were shot and wounded by Afghan soldier on a base in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, according to U.S. military officials. The soldiers are receiving medical care, but there was no word on their condition.
The attack occurred around 1:30 pm local time Sunday at Camp Antonik in Helmand, said U.S. Navy Capt. Bill Salvin, spokesman for U.S. Forces in Afghanistan.
The Associated Press, quoting an Afghan official, said the assailant had been shot dead. The official suggested the shooting was accidental and that the Afghan soldier had not fired deliberately.
