COMANCHE, Texas (AP) — A West Texas man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing and dismembering his wife.
A Comanche County jury delivered the sentence on Tuesday to 35-year-old Michael Lowery. He was found guilty of first-degree murder in the July 2013 slaying of 34-year-old Amber Lowery.
Prosecutors say Lowery killed his wife and burned her remains after she requested a divorce. Authorities found her body close to the couple’s ranch near Rising Star.
His attorney called the killing a crime of passion and had asked for a 20-year sentence.
