Columbia man sentenced for role in fatal accident

A Columbia man pleaded guilty to auto manslaughter and received a 10-year sentence, with all but 18 months suspended, after killing a Severn woman and seriously injuring her teenage son in December.

Jason Bukovsky, 32, entered the plea Tuesday before Anne Arundel Circuit Judge Paul Hackner.

He will serve 18 months in the county’s detention center and the rest of the 10 years on probation, said Kristin Fleckenstein, spokeswoman for the State’s Attorney’s Office.

Bukovsky was traveling south on Aviation Boulevard, north of Dorsey Road, when he crossed the center line and collided with a car driven by Soon Youn Livingston, 53, who died at the scene, police said.

Assistant State’s Attorney Jennifer Alexander told the court that Bukovsky failed to maintain control of his car, made no attempt to avoid impact with the victims’ car and had an “excessively high” blood-alcohol level of 0.39 percent.

Livingston’s 16-year-old son, Michael Graham, who was with her in the car, was treated for seven days with serious injuries at University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore City, according to court records.
