Netflix star under FBI investigation for allegedly soliciting sex from minors: Report

A star from the Netflix show Cheer is reportedly under FBI investigation for allegedly soliciting sex and illicit photographs from minors.

The FBI conducted a search warrant on the Naperville, Illinois, home of Jerry Harris, a 21-year-old who was featured in the Netflix cheerleading documentary, on Monday, according to USA Today. Harris has not been charged with any crimes. The FBI confirmed that the agency was working in the area but did not provide further details.

“The FBI is conducting court-authorized law enforcement activity in the area,” said FBI special agent and public affairs officer Siobhan Johnson.

The allegations against Harris stem from a letter sent to police by Burton Brillhart, a chief legal officer for the company Varsity. Varsity is the top provider of cheerleading products in the United States. Brillhart wrote that he had learned that Harris was involved in “inappropriate sexual conduct” and that he was reporting it to authorities as he was mandated to do.

“As a result of the recent allegation, we have barred this person from having any affiliation with Varsity Brands or any of its subsidiaries or affiliates, now and in the future,” Brillhart wrote.

Brillhart included screenshots from May 2019, when Harris was not a direct employee of Varsity. The screenshots appear to show part of Harris’s face asking someone if they “ever want to f—.” The other screenshot included a text from Harris telling someone he “found a place for us to do stuff.”

Harris became a star after he appeared in the show Cheer. He has been featured in interviews with Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres. His Instagram account touts 1.2 million followers. Netflix declined to comment to the Washington Examiner for this report.
