Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) said the latest allegations involving Herschel Walker are “disturbing” and that voters should assess which of the two candidates is best prepared to represent them in the Senate.
Warnock’s comment follows a report that alleged Walker, his Republican opponent, paid for an ex-girlfriend to get an abortion. Walker’s son, Christian Walker, subsequently denounced his father, who is campaigning on an anti-abortion platform, for denying the allegations.

“What we are hearing about my opponent is disturbing,” Warnock said, according to NBC News. “And I think the people of Georgia have a real choice about who they think is ready to represent them in the United States Senate.”
The Daily Beast reported Monday that an anonymous woman said Herschel Walker paid for her abortion while they were dating in 2009. Herschel Walker has denied the allegations and vowed to sue the outlet.
“I know this is untrue. I know it’s untrue. … I know nothing about any woman having an abortion. And they can keep coming at me like that, and they’re doing it because they want to distract people,” he told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt. “I know that because, you know, I’ve already been forgiven. And if I’ve been forgiven, why in the world would I not be forgiven of something like that?”
Christian Walker, a conservative influencer, publicly claimed that his father has not been truthful about his past.

“I did one event last year when we were told he was going to get ahead of his past and hold himself accountable,” Christian Walker said in a video after the Daily Beast story. “None of that happened. Everything’s been a lie. Don’t lie about your life at the expense of me, my mom, and all of the people that you’ve affected throughout your life. You don’t get to pretend you’re some moral family guy.”
Warnock is slightly ahead of Herschel Walker in the polls as he seeks his first full Senate term after winning a special election in 2020. Georgia’s Senate election could determine which party takes the majority in the upper chamber following the midterm elections. Top Republicans have stood by Herschel Walker despite the scandalous claims.
