Anthony Scaramucci threatens to sue grad student who called him ‘unethical’

Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci has threatened to sue a Tufts University graduate student who wrote an opinion column that said Scaramucci is an “unethical opportunist.”

Scaramucci is a Tufts alum, and advises the Tufts Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.

After graduate student Camilo Caballero wrote his op-ed, Scaramucci wrote him a letter threatening a lawsuit unless he apologized, according to the Boston Globe.

“So either back it up or you will hear from my lawyer,” Scaramucci warned Caballero. “You may have a difference of opinion from me politically which I respect but you can’t make spurious claims about my reputation and integrity.”

A lawyer for Scaramucci wrote later that he is “ready to take legal action to correct these false and defamatory statements,” but also said Scaramucci would accept an apology.

“A man who is irresponsible, inconsistent, an unethical opportunist and who exuded the highest degree of disreputability should not be on the Fletcher Board,” Caballero wrote of Scaramucci in his op-ed.

Scaramucci tweeted late Sunday night that he has asked for an apology, and repeated his argument that people cannot defame others just because they disagree politically.
