Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley is defending Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez over “disgusting and false treatment” she says the first-term New York Democratic lawmaker has endured.
“Socialist Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez and I agree on nothing when it comes to policy,” Haley tweeted Thursday. “But she – and every other woman in public life – deserve respect and so much more than this sort of disgusting and false treatment.”

Haley’s tweet came in response to a Guardian article detailing a Daily Caller piece headlined, “Here’s the photo some people described as a nude selfie of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.” The article, which has since been removed, included a photo of a woman that a Reddit user incorrectly identified as Ocasio-Cortez. The photo only depicted two feet in a bathtub.
In response, Ocasio-Cortez slammed the GOP for “losing their mind + frothing at the mouth all week.”
“Women in leadership face more scrutiny. Period,” she tweeted.
GOP have been losing their mind + frothing at the mouth all week, so this was just a matter of time.
There is also a Daily Mail reporter (Ruth Styles) going to my boyfriend’s relative’s homes+offering them cash for “stories.”

Ocasio-Cortez, who is the youngest woman ever elected to Congress, defeated incumbent Democratic Rep. Joe Crowley in a primary race last June. She espouses left-wing positions such as government-financed healthcare and abolishing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Haley, a former South Carolina governor, unexpectedly announced in October that she was stepping down from her post in the Trump administration. President Trump has since nominated State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert to replace her.
