Michael Jackson’s daughter faces pushback for portraying ‘lesbian Jesus’ in upcoming movie

Hundreds of thousands of people have signed a petition accusing Michael Jackson’s daughter of portraying “lesbian Jesus” in a forthcoming movie and condemning the film.

Paris Jackson, 22, plays Jesus in an upcoming movie called Habit, which follows a “street smart party girl with a Jesus fetish who gets mixed up in a violent drug deal and finds a possible way out — by masquerading as a Nun,” Deadline reported.

A petition on Change.org had garnered nearly 280,000 signatures as of Thursday, calling against the distribution of the “blasphemous” film.

“A new blasphemous Hollywood film is predicted to come out soon depicting Jesus as a lesbian woman. The film Habit stars Paris Jackson who plays the role of ‘lesbian Jesus.’ Distributors haven’t picked it up as of yet, so let’s please spread awareness and wake people up to the Christianophobic garbage that is spread nowadays, but is somehow accepted and praised by society,” the petition reads.

A producer for the film, however, said the claims by those signing the petition are “absolute nonsense.”

“Paris appears in a fantasy moment that Bella has in the film where Bella has a vision of her mother (played by Paris) dressed as Jesus,” Cassian Elwes told Newsday.

Paris Jackson is the late Michael Jackson’s only daughter and has worked as a model, musician, and actress in recent years. She identifies as gay, according to USA Today, but is currently dating a man.

“Homosexuality, in general, is very taboo in the Black community,” Jackson says. “So that, on top of the religious aspect, it was something that I did feel like I needed to withhold for a while. And then the first time I came out to a family member they, like, didn’t believe me.”

Actress Bella Thorne and musician Gavin Rossdale will also be featured in the film, a release date for which has not yet been announced.
