Douglas Clark Hollmann was named Anne Arundel’s new administrative hearing officer by County Executive John R. Leopold.

Hollmann replaces Stephen LeGendre, who took a position as the Howard County Council administrator in November.

As the administrative hearing officer, Hollmann hears petitions for zoning changes and special exceptions and variances to the current zoning code. Hollmann was an assistant district attorney and U.S. Justice Department attorney and an attorney in Anne Arundel’s Office of Law.

Leopold said in a news release that Hollmann, a Duke University and Columbia Law School graduate, was picked following a national search. “He is someone I think will judge cases fairly and listen to both sides,” Leopold said.
