A video posted Monday afternoon on Twitter shows the man dragged off an overbooked United Airlines flight had blood dripping from his mouth after the incident.
“I have to go home. I have to go home. I have to go home,” the man repeats as he appears to be visibly shaken.
Other video from the incident showed the man being grabbed by two men with badges and radios. He was dragged from his seat into the aisle.
United had overbooked the flight and needed four passengers to voluntarily take different flights. The airline offered money and a hotel room, but no one volunteered.
Four passengers were selected randomly, and three left the airplane without incident.
The man who was dragged out of the plane said he was a doctor and needed to get to a hospital in Louisville to treat his patients.
“Flight 3411 from Chicago to Louisville was overbooked,” a United spokesperson said. “After our team looked for volunteers, one customer refused to leave the aircraft voluntarily and law enforcement was asked to come to the gate.”
“We apologize for the overbook situation. Further details on the removed customer should be directed to authorities.”
