CNN analyst Lewandowski no longer receiving severance pay from Trump campaign

Corey Lewandowski, the former campaign manager for Donald Trump and a current CNN political analyst, revealed Thursday that he is no longer receiving severance pay from the Trump campaign.

While being introduced on “New Day” Thursday morning, host Alisyn Camerota told viewers that Lewandowski was no longer receiving severance payments, which had been going on since he was fired in June.

“In previous appearances, we have told you that Corey was still receiving severance from the Trump campaign,” Camerota said, introducing Lewandowski to the audience. “That is no longer the case, we are told. Are you done with those payments?”

“Amazing, everything comes to an end,” Lewandowski said. “Forty days to go in the election and now this is the breaking news.”

“I didn’t think those would run out,” Camerota said. The host followed up asking if that was true, which Lewandowski confirmed, saying she was “correct.”

According to Politico, Lewandowski was set to continue receiving monthly payments, but recently had his contract paid off in a lump sum. They also reported that the Trump campaign saw Lewandowski’s continued payments as a “distraction” and wanted to tie off the deal.

Lewandowski joined CNN shortly after he was fired in June from the campaign. He was the first of three campaign managers for the Trump team, preceding Kellyanne Conway and Paul Manafort, who left the campaign shortly after Conway and Steve Bannon were brought on board in August.
