An Arlington man was sentenced Tuesday to two-and-a-half years in prison for threatening to kill his former girlfriend, her parents and her co-workers.
Kyle M. McDonald, 27, was also sentenced in federal court in Alexandria to three years of supervised release.
A jury found him guilty in June of making threatening communications. Prosecutors said he threatened to torture and kill his former girlfriend in recorded telephone calls he made while an serving a sentence at the Arlington County Detention Center for stalking and violating a protection order.
In the phone conversations with relatives, McDonald made statements like, “I am killing her as soon as I get out of here” and “I’m going to walk right into her house at Christmas, pop her father, pop her mother, pop her. I can’t wait,” according to court records.
