NRA mocks David Hogg for protesting with ‘armed security’

The National Rifle Association mocked gun control activist David Hogg for apparently showing up to a protest at the NRA headquarters in Fairfax, Va., this weekend with “armed security.”

“Today, @davidhogg111 (with armed security) and a bunch of gun-grabbing activists protested our empty HQ, and there were some interesting people there. Our social team chatted up the crowd and ended the day with ice cream paid for by @Everytown! Stay tuned for video interviews!” the NRA’s official Twitter account said on Saturday along with some photos. Everytown for Gun Safety is a nonprofit gun-control group.

Hogg, an 18-year-old who became an outspoken advocate of gun law reform after surviving the deadly shooting at his high school in Parkland, Fla., in February, didn’t deny that he had an armed security detail when he responded to the NRA’s tweet.

“Lol y’all literally had 25 people in front of your headquarters we had 1500 not to mention several of yours were in confederate shirts and we all know how that war went,” he said.

While many of Hogg’s Parkland classmates have joined him in calling for reforms to decrease gun violence across the country, not everyone in his class agree.

Kyle Kashuv, a pro-gun Parkland survivor, joked Sunday that NRA employees got ice cream from Everytown “to own the libs.”
