‘Everything he says is a lie’: Trump claims Biden gets a pass on his policy flip-flops

President Trump claims his Democratic challenger Joe Biden isn’t being held accountable for changing his previous positions on a number of policy proposals, accusing the former vice president of lying to voters.

Trump particularly hit Biden on his energy and environmental policy proposals, as well as his vows to reverse the president’s tax cuts and impose taxes on households making over $400,000 a year.

Trump particularly emphasized his claim that Biden would ban fracking, even though the Democrat has opposed that move.

“He [Biden] said for a year there would be no fracking, and you heard that many times, he couldn’t say it any stronger. Then all of a sudden he said there’s going to be fracking. As soon as he gets the nomination, there’s going to be fracking,” Trump told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo on Sunday Morning Futures. “But, you know, he doesn’t mean that because he doesn’t control it. He’s weak, and he doesn’t control it. His party controls him. The killers of his party control him.”

Trump also attacked Biden for working with progressive members of his party, such as Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, when it comes to combating climate change.

The president claimed that when cameras are rolling, Biden distances himself from progressives to frame himself as moderate to win over voters from states with economies heavily reliant on their energy industries.

“When he’s on television, he doesn’t say that [he’ll ban fracking],” Trump said. “Now, in Pennsylvania, if you stop fracking, you won’t have a Pennsylvania. Texas, Oklahoma, North Dakota, many, many states, Ohio, you have to frack. You have to frack. And if they don’t frack, energy’s going to go through the roof, and you’re going to lose millions and millions of jobs. Well, this guy, all of a sudden the minute he gets — he goes, he says, ‘No, we’ll frack.’ Put a little caveat on it.”

Trump also accused national media outlets of not holding Biden accountable for his reversed stances on issues, a contrast he says would be catastrophic for himself.

“Everything he says is a lie, and he gets away with it,” Trump said. “No Republican, especially me, but no Republican could get away with what he does.”
