Republican Sen. Jerry Moran of Kansas was carried off of Camelback Mountain in Phoenix by a group of rescuers after suffering an ankle injury while working out.
About a dozen firefighters treated the 65-year-old senator on the side of the mountain before taking him off the mountain to a nearby hospital Thursday. Moran was in Arizona to meet with the Drug Enforcement Agency and tour the southern border.

A representative for Moran told the Washington Examiner that the senator hurt himself while working out on the mountain.
“Sen. Moran injured his ankle during a morning workout. He is in good spirits and extends his thanks to the Phoenix Fire Department for assisting him this morning,” the representative said, adding that Moran would be returning to Kansas on Friday.
