Virginia’s first lady Suzanne Youngkin has expanded her participation in campaign politics, stumping for Republican women running for office in the midterm elections as speculation rises that her husband, Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R), is eyeing a 2024 presidential bid.
Suzanne Youngkin is scheduled to be in Virginia Beach on Nov. 1 to boost state Sen. Jen Kiggans, who is challenging Rep. Elaine Luria (D) in the commonwealth’s 2nd Congressional District. The governor is a significant draw for Republicans on the 2022 circuit, traveling extensively in Virginia and nationally to boost the party in midterm elections. His wife also is becoming something of a favored GOP surrogate.
FUNDAMENTALS, FROM COVID TO CRIME, FAVOR REPUBLICANS
She has campaigned for Kiggans once before and has hit the hustings for Republican Yesli Vega, who is running against Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA) in the 7th Congressional District, and Republican Karina Lipsman, challenging Rep. Don Beyer (D-VA) in the 8th Congressional District.
Suzanne Youngkin’s appearance for Kiggans is being organized by Winning for Women Action Fund, a super PAC dedicated to electing Republican women to Congress. The group has raised $16 million this cycle, including $5 million in the third quarter ending Sept. 30. It’s putting that money to work, in part, by investing to help Republicans win the House majority through a series of events in the final weeks of the campaign.
On Tuesday, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds (R) and former United States Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley are set to headline two events, one in Cedar Rapids, the other in Davenport, for Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA) and Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA). Haley, also the former governor of South Carolina, is mulling a presidential bid and has repeatedly visited Iowa, host of the first nominating contest on the party’s 2024 calendar.
Reynolds said in a statement that Iowa is “ground zero” for Republican female candidates. Of the five members of the state’s GOP congressional delegation, three are women.
“As we launch our Women on a Mission tour, there’s no better place to kick-start this effort than in the Hawkeye state with an exceptional lineup of female powerhouses,” added Annie Dickerson, the Republican operative who founded the super PAC. “Winning For Women Action Fund is all about backing women who we believe are the future of the Republican Party, who bring much-needed diversity to Congress and will be serious legislators in D.C.”

Winning for Women Action Fund also is hosting an event for Jennifer-Ruth Green, the Republican nominee in Indiana’s 1st Congressional District, on Oct. 28. The name of the headliner was not yet available.
Suzanne Youngkin did not respond to a request for comment on her political activity made through Winning for Women Action Fund.
