Wine an festivities on tap at festival in Bel Air

The historic estate of Rockfield Manor in Bel Air will host the Harford County Wine Festival from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday.

Local wines, as well as those from around the world, will be featured. Food stands, continuous live music, a farmers market, artists and crafters will all be on hand for this first-time event that benefits the Rockfield Foundation.

“We saw the need for a wine festival, for people to come out and support us,” said foundation Board Member Peter Fernandez.

Twelve area wine distributors will feature a total of 60 different wines from all across the world, Fernandez noted. Marc McFaul, a foundation member and owner of the Ropewalk Taverns in Baltimore and Bel Air, has been the wine coordinator for the event.

“Our wines include everything from Columbia Crest Pinot Grigio and Merlot, to Cake Cread, a high-end Chardonnay,” said McFaul.

“This is the first year for the festival, but we believe it will be a success,” McFaul said. “We hope to get a thousand people.”
