‘He’s a champ’: Larry King moved out of ICU during coronavirus hospitalization

Legendary TV broadcaster Larry King was moved from an intensive care unit in Los Angeles, where he has been hospitalized with COVID-19 for more than a week.

A source close to the 87-year-old told NBC News on Monday that he was moved from the ICU on Sunday and has been receiving treatment for the contagion at the hospital for about 10 days. The source also said King believes he became infected with the virus from a health worker who visited his residence.

In addition to King, one of his sons also reportedly contracted the coronavirus.

More than 2.4 million confirmed COVID-19 cases have been reported across the country, and there have been more than 26,600 deaths associated with it, according to the latest count by the New York Times.

“Larry has fought so many health issues in the last few years, and he is fighting this one hard too, he’s a champ,” a source close to the family told ABC News over the weekend.

King became a household name during his time hosting Larry King Live on CNN, a show that he helmed for 25 years until his 2010 retirement. The octogenarian now hosts Larry King Now on the streaming platform Ora TV.

The broadcaster has already faced health obstacles prior to his coronavirus hospitalization. In 2019, he revealed that he suffered from a stroke that caused him to wind up in a coma for “a couple of weeks,” and he reportedly suffered from a heart attack that same year. In 2020, he also suffered the losses of two of his five children, one from a heart attack and one from cancer.
