‘I would rather die’: Jordan Peterson stands by Elliot Page tweet

Former psychology professor and author Jordan Peterson is standing by his tweet about transgender actor Elliot Page that got him suspended from the platform earlier this week.

“The suspension will not be lifted unless I delete the hateful tweet in question, and I would rather die than do that,” Peterson said in a YouTube video response.”Hopefully, it will not come to that, although who the hell knows in these increasingly strange days.”

Twitter claimed Peterson violated its rules of hateful conduct. The rule reads: “You may not promote violence against, threaten, or harass other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or serious disease.”

MUSK SILENT ON TWITTER FOR NINE DAYS

“What rules, you sons of bitches, exactly? Precisely?” Peterson said. “Because such things matter when the accusations start flying.”

Peterson admitted he “dead-named” Page, calling the transgender man by actor’s former name, Ellen. However, the author claimed that the idea of a dead name simply came from the “censorial and avid minds of a tiny fraction of insanely narcissistic and increasingly dangerous trans activists” and doesn’t really exist.

“How could I possibly have written that sentence in any sensible manner whatsoever while simultaneously making my point understandable and not breaking Twitter rules against so-called hateful conduct?” Peterson said. “And ‘Elliot Page just had his breasts removed’? Was he Elliot then? When exactly? Exactly? He was definitely Ellen at some point in the past.”

Meanwhile, Page has remained silent on social media and hasn’t commented publicly on Peterson’s controversial tweet on June 22. Page did not respond to the Washington Examiner’s request for comment.

“Up yours, woke moralists,” Peterson finished. “We’ll see who cancels who.”

The video finished with an overlay advertising the Jordan Peterson Uncensored show on the Daily Wire’s new streaming service. The same week it launched, Peterson signed a contract for an undisclosed amount to stream his show on their service.
