WASHINGTON (AP) — The 24 men and 12 women spending a year as clerks to Supreme Court justices are young stars of the legal world.
They include the co-author of a book about the Supreme Court and a former speechwriter to President George W. Bush who collaborated on his memoir.
These clerks will spend the next 10 months reading thousands of appeals filed with the court, researching cases the justices agree to hear and drafting early versions of their bosses’ opinions.
After that, the sky is the limit.
The ranks of former clerks include Chief Justice John Roberts, Justices Stephen Breyer and Elena Kagan, and Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas, Mike Lee of Utah and Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut.
