Democratic Sen. Kyrsten Sinema joined Republicans in standing and applauding President Trump’s comments about the unemployment rate during his State of the Union address.
Sinema, 43, bucked her party to support Trump’s comments about both job creation and opportunity zones, which include “distressed communities” where “new investments, under certain conditions, may be eligible for preferential tax treatment.”

Trump credited the work on helping opportunity zones to GOP Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina.
Sinema is considered one of the few senators who could break from her party on the Senate’s vote to convict or acquit Trump on two articles of impeachment. Although the president will likely be acquitted, it’s unclear if some Democrats may cross party lines. Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Sen. Doug Jones of Alabama could also vote to acquit Trump.
