David Limbaugh, a conservative commentator and the brother of Rush Limbaugh, said he was suspended from his Twitter account for violating the platform’s rules.
“Twitter suspended me today for 12 hours saying I violated some rule. These people are amazing. I guess slamming the left is a violation of the rules,” Limbaugh said on his Parler account Sunday evening.
The last active tweet on his page, as of Monday morning, was posted at 6:20 p.m. on Sunday. Another tweet has a Twitter message reading, “This tweet is no longer available,” with a link to the platform’s reasoning on issuing notices.
Other conservative figures posted on social media about the suspension.
“Twitter has suspended my buddy David Limbaugh’s account for 12 hours by lying about him violating their rules. This is completely out of control,” conservative radio show host Mark Levin said.
Others echoed Levin, including Sean Hannity and Andy McCarthy.
My friend .@DavidLimbaugh just told me he received an email from Twitter suspending his account for 12 hours for violating Twitter Rules. He has no idea what this is about. More big tech censorship.

No person of good will, no matter what his or her politics, thinks @DavidLimbaugh is anything but a great patriot who wants the best for our country and every American. If Twitter is shutting him down, that’s indefensible.

Former NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch shared Limbaugh’s Parler account, which markets itself as a free speech platform, and urged people to follow him there.

Parler jumped to the top downloaded app this weekend as conservatives rallied support to leave Facebook and Twitter over censorship.
“The media and the anti-Trump lunatics have awakened a sleeping giant. We gave a collective middle finger to the tech tyrants as Parler remains the NUMBER ONE most downloaded app in the world. Thank you!” conservative commentator Dan Bongino said Sunday morning.
Parler was founded in 2018 and has been lauded as a platform that protects free speech.
“Parler is an unbiased social media focused on real user experiences and engagement. Our content is moderated based off the FCC and the Supreme Court of the United States which enables free expression without violence and a lack of censorship. Parler never shares your personal data,” the platform’s description reads.
Limbaugh has been a supporter of President Trump and has questioned the election results, according to previous tweets.
“A major problem facing conservatives is that the left(who control all media and social media) scoff & laugh us out of the room, at suggestions of Dem corruption, from Russia hoax to the election. It’s as if everything we say is reduced to conspiracy neuroses. Literal gaslighting,” he tweeted on Nov. 7.
“I think the monumental irony of this election is that it was a vindication of Trump Republicanism nationwide. Expanded the party, we have winning issues and we’re set for the future, OTHER THAN FOR THE FRAUD ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM,” he said in another tweet that day.
A Twitter spokesperson told the Washington Examiner in a statement on Monday that Limbaugh’s account was suspended “in error.”
“We took enforcement action on the account you referenced in error. This has been corrected and the account has since been reinstated,” the statement said.
