Trump warns ‘radical’ Democrats will take a ‘giant wrecking ball’ to the economy if victorious

President Trump on Saturday warned supporters that if “radical” Democrats are victorious in the upcoming elections, they will “take a giant wrecking ball” to the economy and the country’s future.

“This is one of the most important elections of our entire lives,” Trump told the crowd during a rally in Belgrade, Mont. “This election will decide whether we build on the extraordinary prosperity that we’ve achieved or whether we let the radical Democrats take control of Congress and take a giant wrecking ball to our economy and to the future of our nation.”

“America now has the best economy in the history of our country,” he continued. “I said it was going to happen. I just didn’t know it was going to happen this fast.”

Trump touted the economic progress that has been made since he became president, raising Friday’s report that employers added 250,000 jobs in October.

The rally in Montana, where he urged voters to support Republican Senate hopeful Matt Rosendale and Rep. Greg Gianforte, R-Mont., is the first of two Trump is hosting Saturday. He is traveling to Pensacola, Fla., to support Florida Republicans later on Saturday night.

The rallies are part of an eight-state campaign blitz Trump launched Friday in the final days before Tuesday’s elections.

During the rally in Montana, the president also heralded gains in the steel and coal industries, saying the steel industry was dead but is booming today.

“Now, it’s one of the hottest industries in our country,” Trump said.

The president’s warning about the future of the economy under a Democrat-controlled Congress stands in contrast with his focus on immigration this week, an issue he has turned to in an effort to rally his base.

“A Republican Congress means more jobs and less crime,” he said Saturday. “A Democrat Congress means more crime and less jobs. It’s very simple.”

In addition to his rallies Saturday in Montana and Florida, Trump will head to Georgia and Tennessee on Sunday and Ohio, Indiana, and Missouri on Monday.

Trump is working to help Republicans maintain its majority in the House and boost the number of seats the GOP controls in the Senate.
