State selects company to develop highway connector

Gov. Martin O?Malley announced the selection of Intercounty Constructors of Annapolis Junction as the designers and builders of the first phase of construction for the Intercounty Connector. A stretch of seven miles, the initial construction is part of an 18.8-mile corridor that will join Interstate 270 in Montgomery County with Interstate 95 in Prince George?s County. The estimated cost of the first seven miles alone will be around $478.7 million. “It is time to get to work,” O?Malley said in a statement. “With the award of this first major construction contract, we are moving forward with the ICC.” It is set to be completed in 2010.
