Steve Bannon’s ouster as President Trump’s chief strategist will free him to attack his “adversaries in the West Wing,” a former spokesperson for Breitbart News said Friday.
“I think Steve will feel liberated,” Kurt Bardella said in an email. “Free from the limitations of ‘serving’ or ‘answering’ to somebody. It’s not in Steve’s DNA to work for anybody but himself. He likes being the dictator.”
Bardella believes that Bannon, now freed from the constraints of the White House, will likely continue to use Breitbart News to attack West Wing figures such as Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump along with Republican leadership.
“If Steve senses that Trump is being co-opted by the Jared/Ivanka/Trump Jr./Cohn base, he (and Breitbart) will turn on Trump and recruit someone else like Attorney General [Jeff] Sessions to replace him,” Bardella added.
He also suggested that Bannon wants to make the Trump administration “feel the pain of his departure” and would likely encourage Breitbart News to begin covering topics it has typically avoided, namely the Russian investigation.
Some reports have suggested that Bannon is already preparing for war with the White House, teaming with billionaire financier Bob Mercer to go “thermonuclear” against “globalists” that they believe are running the Trump White House.
