VILNIUS, Lithuania (AP) — Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite has declared victory in her bid for re-election in the Baltic country.
Grybauskaite thanked her supporters Sunday and said on national television that the victory was “historic” because “Lithuania has never elected a president for second term before.”
With more than 70 percent of votes counted, Grybauskaite was leading with 57.7 percent of votes, while Social Democrat Zigmantas Balcytis had 42.2 percent.
