Biden thanks country for opportunity to serve as future president on Thanksgiving

President-elect Joe Biden thanked voters on Thanksgiving for giving him the chance to serve as the country’s 46th president come January.

In an op-ed for CNN, Biden and his wife Jill touched on how the coronavirus pandemic has upended the holiday season and thanked healthcare workers and scientists in their efforts to corral the coronavirus, which has infected over 12 million people nationwide.

“Like millions of Americans, we are temporarily letting go of the traditions we can’t do safely,” the Bidens wrote. “It is not a small sacrifice. These moments with our loved ones — time that’s lost — can’t be returned. Yet, we know it’s the price of protecting each other and one we don’t pay alone.”

They also issued gratitude to workers, teachers, and parents across the country who have dealt with the inconsistencies of education and the workplace brought by the pandemic.

They added that they are thankful that the people gave Joe Biden a chance to be the next president.

“We are grateful for the faith and trust we have been given to continue serving this beautiful, brave, complicated nation as your future President and first lady,” the Bidens wrote.

Joe Biden was declared the winner of the election by several media outlets almost three weeks ago. President Trump has yet to concede to Biden and remains fighting a slew of legal battles in key battleground states that he alleges he could have won if it weren’t for voter fraud. Little evidence has been provided to prove that mass voter fraud took place.
