Sarah Palin on sexual harassment: A lot of people ‘know I’m packing’ so they don’t ‘mess with me’

Sarah Palin spoke out against sexual harassment in the workplace on Thursday, but said personally hasn’t experienced any incidents because people know she is carrying a weapon.

“I think a whole lot of people know I’m probably packing, so I don’t think there’s a whole lot of people who would necessarily mess with me,” the former Alaska governor said while speaking to MSNBC’s Kasie Hunt on Capitol Hill.

“I don’t mean to be lighthearted about it; this is a serious issue,” Palin added. “It really stinks for women in the workplace that for too long, men have thought they can get away with that old-school thinking that it’s okay to belittle and harass women.”

The remarks from Palin come just hours after Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., was accused of sexual assault in 2006 by a Los Angeles radio news anchor.

Toward the end of the conversation, Palin warned of the danger against false accusations and the harm they can cause to someone who is innocent.
