Perhaps you grew up with “SFS” embroidered in the hand towels of the family’s summer cottage (or jet, or robot). Maybe you only heard of Sidwell Friends School when President Obama decided to send Sasha and Malia there.
Or, just maybe, you learned of the elite Quaker private school after it was hit with a $10 million sex-scandal lawsuit last week.
But no matter your acquaintance, your kids can get in on the fun: Sidwell Friends is discounting tuition to its summer soccer and basketball camps by 70 percent through LivingSocial.com.
Pay $75 (normally $250) for one week of half-day camp, or $150 (normally $325) for the full-day experience. The weeklong camp at Sidwell’s Northwest D.C. campus culminates in a pizza and ice cream extravaganza and awards for “all-star campers,” according to the coupon.
Only one coupon can be used per camper, but you can buy up to five (give the gift of Sidwell!), and camp reservations are required while space is subject to availability. As of 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, 526 coupons had been purchased.
Basketball season runs June 13 through July 15, while soccer runs June 13 to Aug. 19.
