Florence floods Carolinas: In photos

Tropical Storm Florence parked itself over the Carolinas on Saturday, dumping water onto communities that saw flash flooding block roads and endanger bridges and dams.

The Associated Press reported that Marines, the Coast Guard, civilian crews and volunteers rescued hundreds of people Saturday, as the storm’s death toll reached 11.

Some areas saw more than two feet of rain, and forecasts said more than a foot more could fall before the end of the weekend

“I cannot overstate it: Floodwaters are rising, and if you aren’t watching for them, you are risking your life,” North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper said, per AP.
