Police are investigating an attempted bank robbery at 12.52 p.m. today at the M&T Bank’s Inner Harbor branch at 400 E. Pratt St. in Baltimore.
About a half-dozen police officers, including one on a bicycle and another on a Segway, converged on the bank branch as office workers lunched on nearby outdoor tables across from the National Aquarium.
A member of M&T Bank?s corporate security staff arrived on the scene just minutes after police and questioned bystanders, who were taking pictures of the bank.
“It was an attempted robbery, no money was taken,” said Phil Hosmer, spokesman for M&T Bank. “No one was hurt.”
While police secured the bank, the suspect was reportedly spotted on Lombard Street, one block north, while a police helicopter searched from above.
