Trump campaign: Fiorina ‘the queen of outsourcing’ jobs

Paul Manafort, Donald Trump’s convention manager, lambasted Sen. Ted Cruz’s selection of Carly Fiorina as his vice presidential running mate, calling her the “queen of outsourcing” jobs and the move a “desperation act.”

Manafort made the remarks to radio host Laura Ingraham, saying that Cruz might as well tell people that Trump “walks on water” because that is as factual as some of the claims he’s made recently.

“There’s no basis in fact on anything he’s saying,” Manafort said. “So he might as well say that Donald Trump walks on water too because that’s got as much basis in fact than some of the accusations he’s making.”

“We’re not paying a lot of attention to him,” Manafort continued. “He talks about being pro-jobs and he takes a vice presidential candidate that is a desperation act, who is the queen of outsourcing when she was in the corporate world.”

Manafort, a longtime Washington lobbyist who heads up Trump’s convention efforts, also added the he didn’t understand why Cruz would make the move in Indiana, given the outsourcing of jobs from the state. Trump has been a consistent critic of Carrier, who announced in February that they are moving 2,100 jobs from Indianapolis to Mexico as they shift production.

Fiorina has long been under fire for her record as CEO Hewlett-Packard, where she led a merger between HP and Compaq, which has been a main talking point from Democrats, particularly by Sen. Barbara Boxer, who beat Fiorina in the 2010 California Senate race.
