Whoopi Goldberg returned to The View a day early following her two-week suspension after claiming the Holocaust was “not about race.”
“It’s not always as other people would like to hear,” Goldberg said upon her return. She added it is important to have these conversations because “they’re important to us as a nation.” She avoided the word race, instead saying the conversations are also important for us as a “human entity.”
“It’s not about race,” Goldberg said of the Holocaust on the Jan. 31 show. “It’s about man’s inhumanity to man, that’s what it’s about.”

After the antisemitic remarks, former Sen. Al Franken came to her defense, claiming she wouldn’t have chosen the name “Goldberg” if she was antisemitic.
“She chose Goldberg for her last name for a stage name,” he said. “She’s not antisemitic.”
