A gay activist in Washington is the first African-American man to be elected to the Log Cabin Republicans’ national board of directors.
Marc Morgan, the president of the LeDroit Park Civic Association and one-time GOP nominee for Ward 1’s D.C. Council seat, won a seat on the board that oversees the 30-year-old organization for gay Republicans.
“I am honored for this opportunity to work on building a more inclusive Republican Party and encouraging equality for our LGBT community nationally and locally,” Morgan said in a statement. “I look forward to promoting the message that opposing gay and lesbian equality is inconsistent with the GOP’s core principles of smaller government and personal freedom.”
