Fees for sportfishing licenses will increase to help fund fisheries and promote the health of the Chesapeake Bay.
The law passed in the 2007 General Assembly will go into effect July 1.
“The Fisheries Management Reform Act was conceived by recreational anglers in response to a renewed commitment by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and Gov. O?Malley to the importance of recreational fishing to all of Maryland,” said William T. Windley Jr., president of the Maryland Saltwater Sportfishermen?s Association, in a statement.
The annual fees will be:
» $20.50 for residents fishing in nontidal waters;
» $30.50 for nonresidents fishing in nontidal waters;
» $15 for residents fishing in tidal waters;
» $15 for nonresidents fishing in tidal water;
» $50 for a Consolidated Bay Sport Boat License, for a boat registered in any state.
Fees for short-term recreational fishing licenses and trout stamps remain the same.
