D.C.’s college bowl game officials will give away 2,500 tickets to youth football players to the Military Bowl at the end of the month.
That’s one way to help boost attendance, which dropped last year from the bowl’s debut at RFK Stadium in 2008. One would think that for each two or three tickets given to kids for free, a paying adult would have to accompany them.
The Military Bowl is offering the tickets through its partnership with the D.C. and Maryland Pop Warner Football Leagues, as well as some Virginia youth football clubs.
This year’s game features local draw University of Maryland facing off against East Carolina University on Dec. 29.
The Military Bowl received a new title sponsor this year in Northrop Grumman. It was previously called the EagleBank Bowl.
