‘I would have fired him, too’: Medal of Honor recipient slams Biden for praising Vindman

Retired Army Ranger and Medal of Honor recipient Leroy Petry criticized Joe Biden’s decision to urge the debate crowd to stand and clap for recently fired Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman.

“I like Joe Biden. I’ve met him several times, but that right there is ridiculous,” Petry said. “I would have fired him, too.”

Petry went on to criticize House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for calling Vindman a hero while also acknowledging that he respects the fired adviser’s service in the military.

“I respect his service, and I understand he’s a Purple Heart recipient, but being a Purple Heart recipient doesn’t make somebody a hero.”

In the most recent Democratic debate, Biden urged the crowd to stand up and applaud Vindman, who was fired by President Trump earlier that day.

Petry went on to say that Vindman, according to friends who knew him, was not very well liked by his peers and was not trusted.

“Usually, folks that try to make a big statue of something are what we call spotlighters in the military, trying to highlight themselves as a hero or doing something great, and you could do something great just doing your job,” Petry said.

Trump responded to criticism of his decision to fire Vindman on Twitter.

“Actually, I don’t know him, never spoke to him, or met him (I don’t believe!) but, he was very insubordinate, reported contents of my ‘perfect’ calls incorrectly, & was given a horrendous report by his superior, the man he reported to, who publicly stated that Vindman had problems with judgement, adhering to the chain of command and leaking information. In other words, ‘OUT’.”
