President Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani argued that FBI agent Peter Strzok’s testimony to House lawmakers on Thursday proves special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia is tainted.
“Peter Strzok’s testimony was a disgrace. It taints the entire Mueller witchunt [sic]. President Trump is being investigated by people who possess pathological hatred for him. All the results of the investigation are ‘fruit of the poison tree’ and should be dismissed,” Giuliani tweeted late Thursday.

The House Judiciary and House Oversight committees’ hearing often became testy as lawmakers questioned the FBI agent about his anti-Trump text messages and his role in the Russia investigation.
Strzok said the text messages he exchanged with FBI lawyer Lisa Page, with whom he was having an extramarital affair, were written “late at night” and “off the cuff.” Yet, Strzok insisted his messages disparaging Trump did not mean he was biased in the investigation.
“Let me be clear, unequivocally and under oath: Not once in my 26 years of defending my nation did my personal opinions impact any official action I took,” he said in his opening statement.
Trump and his allies have repeatedly attacked the Mueller investigation, labeling it a witch hunt. Trump continued that line of attack Friday during a news conference with British Prime Minister Theresa May in England.
“I would call it the rigged witch hunt after watching some of the little clips,” Trump said of Strzok’s testimony.
