President Trump knocked 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke’s political profile in a rally Wednesday night.
“I went to Texas and made a speech. And Beto, Beto, boy has fallen like a rock,” Trump said at the rally in Panama City Beach, Fla. “What the hell happened to Beto?”
Trump said in March that he dreams of facing off against O’Rourke in the 2020 presidential election.
“I’d love to have Biden, I would love to have Bernie, I would love to have Beto,” Trump said in a March interview with Fox Business Network. “Beto seems to be the one the press has chosen, the press seems to have have chosen Beto. And when I watch Beto, I say, ‘We could dream about that.'”
O’Rourke’s campaign has faded in recent months as more candidates have declared and crowded the 2020 field. A recent Morning Consult poll had O’Rourke at 5% support nationwide, down from 8% in March.
