Vicente Fox: Trump supporters to blame for ‘false prophet’ rescinding DACA

Former Mexican President Vicente Fox railed against President Trump’s “terrible and stupid” decision to rescind of the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program for illegal immigrants, but saved his most pointed criticism for his supporters.

“I don’t blame Trump, he doesn’t know what he’s doing,” Fox told the Washington Examiner on Tuesday. “His supporters are following and propping up a false prophet.”

Fox, who has not been shy about his disdain for Trump, said his supporters need to learn from what he called “the painful history” of Latin America’s authoritarian leaders like Hugo Chavez along with Juan and Eva Peron. He called on Americans to consider the “desert” that Trump is leading them to.

“They need to wake the hell up and see what he is doing,” Fox said. “He’s trying to hit a pinata, but he doesn’t know what he is hitting.”

He went on to question Trump’s mental capacity and criticized the president for making several problems but not delivering on any of them.

“He’s been in office for over eight months and has done nothing,” Fox added. “He promised and promised but lied and lied.”

Fox also said Trump is failing to see how integral a role immigrants play in American society, highlighting that his paternal grandfather was born to immigrant parents in Ohio. He argues that while the rest of the world is building bridges to immigrant communities, Trump is only setting the country back by ignoring its immigrants.

“The rest of the world, they are welcoming immigrants, but Trump keeps talking about walls,” Fox said. “He is too stupid to realize that one day the minority will become the majority.”

Trump is no stranger to Fox’s criticisms. During the 2016 campaign he famously said, “We’ll never pay for that fucking wall,” referring to Trump’s promise to build a wall along the United States and Mexican border and make Mexico pay for it. He also has routinely called the president’s supporters lazy, uneducated drunkards that watch too much television.

He also recently tweeted a photo of the president with a swastika on his forehead, calling him an “American Nazi.”
