NetJets to buy up to 425 Bombardier, Cessna planes

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — NetJets, which sells partial ownership of business jets, plans to buy up to 425 new planes from Cessna and Bombardier as it renews its fleet.

The Columbus, Ohio, business did not disclose the terms of the deals. It could buy $9.6 billion worth of aircraft, but there are firm orders for only 125 planes.

NetJets is part of Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway.

NetJets said the order was big enough that it could customize the planes to meet clients’ needs. The NetJets aircraft will be bigger, faster and offer a longer range than similar aircraft.

The deals include firm orders for 100 Bombardier Challenger planes and options on 175 more.

NetJets also pledged to buy at least 25 Cessna Citation Latitudes with options to buy 125 more.
