Cat hair helps catch would-be Obama bomber

A Texas woman has been indicted for mailing explosives last year to President Barack Obama, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, and the commissioner of the Social Security Administration.

Julia Poff, 46, mailed the explosives to those three officials in October 2016, KHOU reported late Wednesday.

Abbott opened the package he received, but did so in a way that didn’t trigger an explosion. The indictment filed against Poff said an explosion could have caused “severe burns and death.”

Federal authorities traced the packages back to Poff by examining the shipping labels, but they also found cat hair in the box she sent to Obama. That hair matched the hair from her cat, KHOU reported.

Poff has been charged with mailing explosives, and trying to hurt or kill government officials.
