Publisher expects unprecedented sales for James Comey book

Former FBI Director James Comey is expected to sell 850,000 copies in the initial print run of his long-anticipated book, “A Higher Loyalty,” which is set to hit shelves next week.

According to the publishing house, Macmillan, the book has seen an unprecedented amount of pre-ordered copies and is already topping Amazon’s best-seller list ahead of its April 17 release date. Due to the high demand, the publisher is printing 850,000 initial copies.

To put that in perspective, Michael Wolff’s explosive tell-all, Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, which also was published by Macmillan, only had 150,000 copies printed in its initial run.

Since it’s January release date, the publisher said Wolff’s book has sold more than 2 million copies across all formats.

Now, the publishing house is prepared for another frenzy around Comey’s book. The book will be the former FBI director’s first extensive look into his time in office since being fired by President Trump last year.

“This is the largest first printing we’ve done so far this year,” Macmillan president Don Weisberg told CNN.

Comey will be traveling the across country in the next couple of weeks doing a series of media interviews and book talks to promote its release.
