Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are statistically tied in a hypothetical general election matchup, according to a new Morning Consult poll.

Clinton leads Trump by two percentage points nationwide, 42-40, which is within the poll’s two-percentage point margin of error. Approximately 17 percent of respondents were undecided or had no opinion.

Clinton held leads of five and six percentage points over Trump in Morning Consult polls conducted this month, but has lost ground. Trump’s polling average has hovered around 40 percentage points.

But Trump gained ground among women, where he jumped two percentage points and Clinton dropped two points. And Clinton’s advantage among moderates dropped to 10 percentage points from 17 percentage points.

Clinton, however, continues to face a competitive primary opponent that Trump does not. She and Bernie Sanders are squaring off in a tough Kentucky primary race on Tuesday, and he performs better against Trump nationwide. In a head-to-head matchup with Trump, Sanders leads by 13 percentage points, 50-37.

Morning Consult surveyed 3,971 registered voters from May 11-15.
