President Trump asserted Monday that sports teams visits to the White House are resulting in more success for those players than being on a cover of Sports Illustrated.
Trump linked the Boston Red Sox winning their most recent game with their visit to the White House last week. The president said other teams have also seen more success since meeting him.
“The White House visit is becoming the opposite of being on the cover of Sports Illustrated!” Trump tweeted.
Has anyone noticed that all the Boston @RedSox have done is WIN since coming to the White House! Others also have done very well. The White House visit is becoming the opposite of being on the cover of Sports Illustrated! By the way, the Boston players were GREAT guys!

The Red Sox, who won the 2018 World Series, beat the Seattle Mariners on Saturday, 11-2. The team has not had any other games since visiting Trump, though it won six straight games before coming to the White House.
Some of the team’s biggest stars as well as the team manager skipped the visit to protest how the president handled the aftermath of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and his comments about immigrants.
