An off-duty Prince George’s police officer was shot and wounded after interrupting a bank robbery in Bowie.
The officer arrested one robber but a second suspect has fled in a green four-door sedan, said Cpl. Clinton Copeland.
The incident happened shortly after 10 a.m. Monday, at the BB&T bank at Old Chapel Road and Laurel-Bowie Road. It’s unclear whether the officer was working security at the bank or happened to see the strong-armed robbery take place and intervene, Copeland said.
The officer and a robber struggled with the officer’s gun and the weapon fired, grazing the officer in the leg and striking the suspect in the hand.
